Once you click the “embed a map” option, it gives you the chance to customize your Google Map. This is where you get to select your Map settings – how you want the map to appear on your site.
First, choose your preferred map size by selecting from one of the preset sizes or give your map your own custom dimensions. As you customize the map to your preferred size, you also get the chance to see how it looks in the preview section. The way it appears on the preview is the same as it is going to appear on your site, too.
Step 5: Copy the iframe code
Now that you have set your map size to your taste, copy the embed code. That is what you will put on your website. The iframe code will appear at the top of the pop-up box. Copy it and paste it wherever you would like the map to appear on your site.
Bonus steps: This is how to add your Google Map embed to your WordPress footer:
- Go to your WordPress dashboard, then click on Customize
- Now, go to Widgets
- Choose your preferred footer area where you would like the map to appear. Most times, putting it in Footer 1 is better – that is the most left hand side footer.
- Click Add Widget and then click Add Custom HTML to allow you to paste the iframe code you already copied.
- Paste the code in the provided section and click Done.
